serum adenosine deaminase activity and c-reactive protein levels in patients with brucellosis
Authors
abstract
background and objective: brucellosis is a main transmittable zoonotic disease, which is endemic, and a common health burden in iran. adenosine deaminase (ada) is an essential enzyme which is involved in purine metabolism and its role in immune system is very important. the aim of this study was to determine serum changes of ada and c-reactive protein (crp) levels in patients with brucellosis. patients and methods: the study was a case-control one on 36 patients and 36 controls. the serum level of ada and quantitative crp was measured in both patients and controls. we also measured the wright, coomb,s wright and 2-mecapto ethanol (2me) in two participants groups. statistical analysis was performed using spss for windows version 11.5 results: ada serum level in patients group showed a significant difference compared to control group (31.64±25.1 vs. 13.97±3.9, p

Adenosine Deaminase Activity and Serum C-reactive Protein as Prognostic Markers of Chagas Disease Severity
Chagas disease is a public health problem worldwide. The availability of diagnostic tools to predict the development of chronic Chagas cardiomyopathy is crucial to reduce morbidity and mortality. Here we analyze the prognostic value of adenosine deaminase serum activity (ADA) and C-reactive protein serum levels (CRP) in chagasic individuals. One hundred and ten individuals, 28 healthy and 82 ch...
full textSerum and synovial fluid adenosine deaminase activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and reactive arthritis.
Adenosine deaminase activity was determined in paired samples of serum and synovial fluid taken from patients with rheumatoid arthritis (n = 12), reactive arthritis (n = 13), and osteoarthritis (n = 7), and the value of this investigation in the diagnosis of synovial swellings was assessed. Increased activity was found in the synovial fluid taken from patients with rheumatoid disease and reacti...
full textC - Reactive Protein Levels in Patients with Periodontal Disease and Normal Subjects
Although periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease but some factors of acute inflammation phase are involved in this disease among which is the C-Reactive protein (CRP). To minimize its effects, anti-inflammatory drugs or non-pharmacological approaches such as oral hygiene is recommended. CRP can also be used for the prediction and early detection of periodontal disease. The aim of the pr...
full textAdenosine deaminase activity and free IL-2 receptor levels in serum from patients with mycoplasma pneumonia.
Adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity and free interleukin (IL)-2 receptor levels were assayed in serum samples from patients with mycoplasma and bacterial pneumonia to evaluate the usefulness of these parameters in distinguishing between these diseases at an early stage. Serum ADA and free IL-2 receptor levels in patients with mycoplasma pneumonia (32.4 +/- 9.2 U/l, 960 +/- 204 U/ml) were signifi...
